To save downtime, cleaning must be fast and reliable during the mold production. Traditional cleaning methods include sandblasting, ultrasonic cleaning and CO2 cleaning usually have to be cooled in a hot mold for several hours, and then moved to a cleaning device for cleaning. It takes a long time to clean the mold, which easily impairs the accuracy of the mold. Chemical solvents and noise also cause safety and environmental issues.
Laser cleaning is very flexible to use since the laser is transmitted by the optical fiber. It is also very convenient to use since the laser cleaning method uses the connection of optical fiber to clean the dead angle of the mold or the part which is difficult to remove. It doesn’t produce toxic gas or affects the safety of the working environment since the rubber isn’t vaporized.
The technology of using the laser to clean the tire molds has been widely used in the tire industry in Europe and the United States. Although the investment cost is high, the benefits can be quickly reclaimed by saving standby time, avoiding mold damage, ensuring safety and saving raw materials.
The anti-adhesive elastic film layer used in the food industry mold needs to be replaced regularly to ensure hygiene. Instead of using the chemical agent, laser cleaning is also suitable for this application.
